Located in Kawerau, the gateway to the spectacular Tarawera Falls, opportunity knocks to join the team supporting our client to get the most out of life despite his spinal cord and brain injuries.
A young adult with a relaxed demeanour, we are seeking likeminded individuals, who are passionate about delivering the best person-centred care.

As part of his 24/7 care team, you will be providing support with daily living activities including specialised personal cares as well as supporting him with his myriad of interests. No two days the same you can expect fishing, rugby, going to the beach, going for concerts, and as a self-confessed petrolhead you can be sure that cars and motorbikes will be involved somewhere.

Job Description

You will be welcomed to the team by our clients K-9 friend and enthusiastic sidekick who likes to greet everyone and everything by barking, but don’t fear it does not bite! An avid collector of vinyl, our client enjoys listening to his collectible old-fashion record player whilst enjoying a cigarette or two – so our client is a smoker (the only person smoking in the household).

The ideal team member must be a confident driver with a full New Zealand drivers’ licence and their own vehicle. Punctuality and reliability are key for this role, and most importantly, we are looking for experienced support workers who are respectful of our client’s home and have a good sense of humour.

Additionally, due to the nature of our client’s disabilities, you will need to have:
• Experience assisting people with Spinal Cord Injury
• Experience assisting people with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
• Manual handling / Hoist
• Available to work part-time or full-time and up to 12-hour shifts
• Flexible between daily shifts and overnight
• Be able to travel with the clients as the need arises
